Vintage glass bottle

Attractive. Nostalgic. Simple. Beautiful.

In the past, this type of bottle with an integrated reusable cap was much more common. Some beer bottles still have them. Reusable glass bottles are a good way to protect the environment. The closure mechanism has play value and even as a little girl I enjoyed opening and closing such bottles. Somehow the act of this mechanical opening and closing made me feel more grown up and I have to admit, I still find the cap fascinating in addition to its practical function.

Since, as you know, I love to decorate, I couldn't just leave the bottle as transparent as it was, so I embellished it a little with newspaper using a découpage technique.

You need:

For this bottle, I glued the newspaper cuttings onto a large surface. Alternatively, you can of course also work with lots of small snippets or colored paper. Finally, I sealed the bottle with a layer of glue and fixed it with clear varnish to make it more durable. This also makes the bottle washable.

It's really very simple and intuitive, which is why I'm not going to explain exactly how I did it. Also because I hope that you may have already read one or two of my posts or that, since you share my interests, you probably know exactly what we're talking about anyway. Or you can simply experiment, maybe spend a relaxing afternoon of me-time or a fun afternoon of crafting with your kids, who will surely enjoy it too. You could let them choose the paper, the pictures or the colors and they can easily do it themselves. After all, nothing dangerous is used for this project - everything is perfectly suitable for children's hands. Do you have a similar bottle at home and would you like to spruce it up a bit? I can't wait to see what a work of art your bottle turns into. Have fun! A hug and see you soon!

PS. A personalized bottle like this can also make a lovely gift - filled with elderflower syrup or homemade limoncello, for example.
