A quick, sustainable and charming Easter decoration made in an egg carton – perfect as a small Easter gift or spring table decor.

Easter Decoration in an Egg Carton – Simple, Sustainable and Beautiful

Easter is just around the corner, and what could be more beautiful than decorating your home with handmade details?

In this post, I’m sharing a particularly simple yet charming idea: a DIY Easter decoration in an egg carton, decorated with moss, small flowers and egg-shaped candles.

The idea came about quite spontaneously. I had three egg candles and suddenly thought: why not place them – just as eggs belong – inside an egg carton? And this small Easter scene was born.

Why This DIY Easter Decor Feels Special

This Easter decoration combines several lovely aspects:

  • It is sustainable – an old egg carton gets a second life.

  • It is quick to create – in just a few minutes, something meaningful appears.

  • It makes a beautiful Easter greeting or small handmade gift.

You might even add a little note – from you, or perhaps from the Easter Bunny. Children especially love such thoughtful details.

Materials for Your Easter Decoration in an Egg Carton

For this easy DIY Easter decor, you will need:

  • an empty egg carton

  • egg-shaped candles

  • half eggshells

  • moss

  • small flowers or leaves

  • masking tape

  • 2 wooden skewers or toothpicks

  • string

  • patterned origami paper

Most of these materials can be found at home or in the garden.

Step-by-Step: How to Create Your Easter Egg Carton Decor

1. Place the Candles

Set the egg-shaped candles into half eggshells and place them inside the egg carton compartments.

2. Add Moss and Flowers

Arrange fresh moss between the candles and inside the lid of the egg carton. Add small flowers or leaves for a natural spring atmosphere.

3. Fold Paper Bunnies

The small paper bunnies are quickly folded from origami paper and add a playful touch to your Easter greeting. The how-to you find with Mrs. Friemel.

4. Create a Mini Garland

Using two skewers, stretch a string across the egg carton like a festive garland.

For the little flags, wrap colorful masking tape around the string and cut the ends into pennant shapes.

In less than five minutes, your decoration is complete – yet the effect is surprisingly charming.

A Sustainable Easter Gift Idea

This Easter decoration in an egg carton is not only lovely for your own home.

It also works beautifully as:

  • a small gift for Easter brunch

  • a thoughtful handmade Easter greeting

  • a sustainable Easter decoration for friends or neighbors

Its simplicity makes it feel especially personal.

As you arrange moss, paper and candles, something quiet happens almost naturally – hands are busy, and the mind softens for a moment.
